3 Ways to Balance Your Work & Life

Creating a work life balance is essential for achieving personal mastery in both business and in your personal life.  An imbalance can put stress on every area of your life, making either you feel like your life lacks meaning or that you are not achieving the results in business you want.  In either case you feel dissatisfaction and a sense that you are lacking something — a void that is difficult to fill.

Don’t Give Up Your Power

Realize that you have all the power in the world to do or not do what you want. You have freedom to choose to become the person you want to become and to experience all that you wish to experience.

Many people feel stuck or trapped. It isn’t the job you are in, the people around you that are keeping you from achieving balance. Somewhere along the way you have agreed to give up your power. Remember by not choosing to take action, you are still making a choice. You are just allowing others to make that choice for you.

Don’t let fear keep you from claiming your own power. Fear of others, fear of loss of money or income, fear of change are all common challenges that hold people back and keep them from achieving balance. Overcoming fear and claiming your own personal power is one of the first things I work on with my clients. Fear is the main obstacle to success and accomplishment and the friend of failure.

Set Boundaries

Achieving a balance requires setting boundaries. The most accomplished people have to make choices about what they want to do and how they want to spend their time. Attacks on your personal time and space happen by loved ones, friends, family, as well as by co-workers and superiors. Learn to set guidelines for people in your life. Let them know that there is a time for work and a time for play.

Many times I find that my clients have fallen into common rut’s or habits which keep them locked in a vicious cycle where work and life seem to become too large and burdens too heavy.  Sometimes the cause is a lack of focus. But most of the time it is the failure to set boundaries for yourself and others.

Connect With Your Goals

Connecting to your goals is the key to achieving success and feeling a sense of balance. Knowing what is important to you and setting priorities is so important. Communicate through actions when others are overstepping boundaries of time and personal space that you have set for yourself. Of course, we know that there are times when emergencies dictate your actions, but don’t let everything become an emergency. Create routines and regularly communicate with others the goals that you have so that they can support you in your endeavors.

Connection leads to communication and greater knowledge. You may not know the best way to achieve a key goal for yourself. By connecting with others, you open up the possibility of learning better ways of fulfillment and achieving your dreams.
